Morpho-Phonological Processing

From April 11th-14th 2016, Faculty, Research Fellows, and DPhil students working on the WORDS project came together for a three-day intensive workshop on Morpho-Phonological Processing.

The workshop was held at Ettington Park, Stratford-Upon-Avon, and opened with a series of talks on the relationship between morphology and phonology, morphosyntactic interactions using neurophysiology, and underspecification. Afternoon talks focused on issues of degraded speech and place-feature mispronunciations.

Day two of the workshop focused on acquisition and the shape of the lexicon. Experiment reports were presented by the WORDS team, detailing recent behavioural, EEG, and eye-tracking work on asymmetries and assimilation.

We wrapped up the workshop on day three with a lively discussion on processing and perception. This workshop provided all who attended with a singular opportunity to share current work and discuss future approaches to research in the field of experimental linguistics.
