I have been working as a research assistant on the EPSRC-funded Pertinacity grant since January 2024. Together with Dr Joshua Booth, Dr Isabella Fritz and Professor Aditi Lahiri, I have been conducting an ERP fragment priming study to investigate phonological underspecification in the processing of cognates by German-English bilinguals. I have been involved in all stages of the research process for this project, from study design and stimulus preparation over data collection, processing and analysis to writing up our results.
My research interests focus mainly on experimental psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics and include lexical processing, first and second language acquisition, bilingualism, prediction, and language in interaction. I am also trained and maintain an interest in historical linguistics, language change and corpus-based research, with a particular focus on the Germanic languages.
I hold a BA in English and German from the University of Bamberg in Germany and an MPhil in Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics from the University of Oxford. After graduating, I completed a research internship at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen before returning to Oxford to join the Language and Brain Lab. I am now embarking on a PhD in psycholinguistics and first language acquisition with Professor Nivedita Mani at the University of Göttingen where I will be a member of the babylab 'Wortschatzinsel' and the doctoral research training group 'Form-Meaning Mismatches' in linguistics, as well as an affiliate member of the doctoral research training group 'Curiosity' in cognitive science.
